Daily inspiration, blond

This is a neat & simple storage solution & this kind of boxed shelving system are very much into fashion. Floor & walls in white are forming a base for the bookshelf or whatever one prefer to store instead of books. To not risk letting all blend in to a nothing, someone have selected a desk & a stool in light wood material, and a chair in metal. Still a light & blonde impact. Caramel colors of the props & light streaming in from the side reinforces. thedesignchaser mix/ designchaser Take care / Marie

Tin cans

My sister & her husband has recently left us after five weeks visit. They moved to Los Angeles  six years ago & it’s now time to move back home to Sweden again. You have to show your favorite spots, which means a lot of different locations across New South Wales. There’s a plethora of farms, villages, communities with diverse range of markets & shops, to hyper-modern shopping centres. We were not looking to shop, I’ll have to admit. Especially because they already had done their shopping before they left LA & sent these with remaining household possessions.

In all cases, when visiting small cute communities, with sunshine & comfortable warmth, then everything looks appealing, somehow. Even things that you usually don’t look at. Believe me, you feel inspired, influenced & charmed by the attractive surroundings & the nice weather. You are never so keen on coffee as when you’re traveling around like that. Coffee & a small cookie or something sweet to nibble on, or an icecream or two. After a number of visits to different markets, second hand stores & retro decorated cafes, I have almost had enough of old cans of different kinds. It becomes so when you blazes through all these different places. Some things have a tendency to recur.

Low storage solutions

I prefer freestanding storage solutions rather then the integrated. Those simple, flexible & movable benches preferably, because of the airy impression they give. They don’t take up space & aren’t clumsy either. The good thing is the surface you gain, for the nice things. (Including drawers or open shelfes for the flexibility). On the other hand, how flexible do you need to be … I mean, it’s not that I decorate or rearrange things every other week or so. It wouldn’t work with my way of being. It’s one thing to have a deep interest for things, another, to live & breath your passion. Which can be done in different ways, of course.

I’ve gone from actively breathing an interest, to a more pleasurable distance. May sound strange but I get my fair share through magazines, blogs, some exhibitions, shop visits, where I inevitably look more at the visual impression, decor, collections, shop windows, lighting, etc. than to shop, in real sense. (Well, I do manage to do some shopping, to be honest). Sometimes you eat with your eyes, which is a bit of my principle when I shop. I like to do window shopping – you know, to stroll around, stop here & there, check out news, new colors, certain pattern mix, a particular angle of a wall, floor material – things that  happens automatically. Whilst I don’t miss the actual purchase, when needed.

Open sesame

Storage – with simplicity, stylish & functional solutions, it’s no easy task to achieve. It’s not always that cheap either. Using cabinets with doors combined with open storage is a good solution. Closed storage for things that you don’t want to be seen & highlight your everyday objects – in good order. They should be easy to reach & easy to use. Whether it’s for the kitchen or for other rooms. It should be easy for you to live your everyday life.

An alternative is to maximize with shelves either on consoles or screwed directly into the wall. It’s super stylish & super easy. Keep it together in one place & not all over the place. Letting things lie visible creates a homely feel depending on how you make it or how well you do it. Or else, the impression might be messy instead of interesting or inspiring. The amount of variations & solutions is endless … use your creativity & adapt after your needs. I am right now cleaning up & storing things way but also storing things visible. Getting there – slowly 🙂

Piece of work / 164

Hej friends,

I went back to work recently after a long break. It has been pure pleasure to have time for nothing & everything, to be in charge of my own time – no appointments, schedules or any musts. It’s a very inspiring & relaxing way of living. But nothing lasts for ever & reality catches up sooner or later. On the other hand, I’m very grateful for having had the opportunity to take a long break. It’s unusual to be able to forget all demands & requirements which constantly exist in our everyday life…& do what I want to do. Well, I guess my darling have enjoyed it to the fullest too. A clean house to come home to, laundry taken care of…meals ready…to simply just sit down at the dinner table, with welcoming candlelights, without having to think about things that needs to be done. It’s been a blessing for the whole family.

I very much enjoyed my time at home. Something I wouldn’t have believed if someone had told me that some couple of years ago. I’ve learnt to value my time & each precious moment. I’d like to think that this break has helped me to fine tune certain things that was in need of development. I guess that time will tell.

So dear friends, to celebrate a new stage of life, I’ve done a post about work spaces. I’m afraid that some of you might think that these are out of time & out of place. Rightly perhaps, but I guess that this style is always going to be appealing to a number of people. I might need to follow up with a modern version for all fo you who don’t 🙂
