Macau | the ruins of St Paul’s

The Ruins of St. Paul’s, in Macau – that’s what’s left of a massive 17th-century church & college after a Great Fire in 1835. Looking closer at the carvings; they’re a wild mix of European & Asian art, reflecting its history as a hub for science & theology in the East.

Stepping away from the ruins & into the heart of the old district you’re greeted by cobblestone streets, Mediterranean-style plazas & an odd blend of Portuguese & Chinese culture at every turn. It feels like walking through a living museum!

Pita bread

Tried my hand at small sized pita bread. Perfect for brunch | lunch, filled with fried mushrooms, lettuce, tomatoes, onions & hummus.

– Ingredients,

1/2 dl lukewarm water

1/2 al 10% fat yogurt

1 dl 3% fat milk

1 tbsp yeast

1 tbsp sugar

1 tbsp salt

2 tbsp oil

5.5 dl wheat flour

– Instructions,

Mix everything except the flour. Then add the flour & knead into a smooth dough. Let the dough rise until doubled in size, about 40-45 min. (Fold the dough a couple of times).

Divide into 8-10 pieces & roll them out. Let rest for 15 min on the baking sheet. Bake at 240-250° for 8-10 minutes on the bottom rack.
