Café life

We went to Melbourne on a long weekend to celebrate a long relationship that goes into its third decade. And our boys joined us, of course. Where would we be without them. It turned out to become more their weekend actually – shopping weekend so to speak. We strolled behind or in front of them, went in & out of hundreds of shops, spent time outside the changing rooms, discussed all sorts of subjects and so on. Beautiful weather, great city, nice people, comfortable & luxuriously hotel & numerous, numerous cafes.

Green zones

I’m not an outdoors person or particularly interested in nature. I know it sounds horrible but it’s probably not the worst though. What’s worse is that my two sons are alike. My husband claims to be an active outdoors person. But that’s not entirely true, even if the rest of us in the family isn’t making a big deal of it. We are just wondering when he activates his great hobby – since he always spends his free time with us. We are on the go & active with one or the other but it’s more city emphasised, however. Although I have to admit, that I lately have felt an urge to get out into the forest, take some walks & breathe fresh air. Hear & behold! I hope it has something to do with development, of some kind.

Outdoor mood

Stylish summer furniture is sometimes hard to find. Especially when you have a picture in mind of how you want them to look like or if you have to adapt to a given area. In a country like Australia, you are not so dependent on the weather, in the sense that you can be outside all year round. You often see indoor furniture on porches. Sofas, armchairs & tables. I thought it looked a little tricky in the beginning, coming from a winter-land. But it’s very charming. Although, I’m continuing to stick to furniture for outdoor use. However, this is not about outdoor furniture, but about being outdoors. You’re supposed to use what the occasion offers to enjoy the pleasant weather. Our winter here in Australia have been fantastic. One of the warmest winters in 40 years, I believe. The winter here is almost like our summer in Sweden. So, with this beautiful winter weather, I find my self in outdoor mood.

Something in rattan

I was looking around for a laundry basket the other day. We have a stylish thing in black & white at home, with good handles that’s roomy inside. It has now become a bit flimsy & worn so it’s about time to trade up. Rattan wasn’t top of mind & probably not the type of material I generally would look for, although a chair or chairs, would suit me fine. I’ve always liked rattan in the summer, in the garden.

My mother in law had period when she painted baskets in a typical blue colour from her childhood. She then decorated them in a white pattern that became her signum. I had these baskets everywhere, in the kitchen, in the bathroom, garage, playroom & the backyard. I was quite tired of the blue colour & rattan, for quite a while to come, after that. Natural materials are nice in general & rattan has the advantage to age neat & becomes more beautiful with time. I am hereby healed from past experience & ready for this beautiful material … colorless, white, black or with some color of some sort.

Greenery

Greenery – an endless source of joy. My feeling for green is greater than my ability, unfortunately. I like cut fresh flowers, flowering plants, etc. Not that I regularly fill my home but more as an eye-catcher when it suits. It inspires a sense of luxury, although it’s a simple & straightforward things to enjoy in the everyday life. Now, one need not be limited to flowers at home. Greenery is everywhere around us, whether it’s gardens, parks or forests. Moreover there is a huge range of stylish garden stuff & accessories, that attracts whether you’re interested or not. I mean, if you wish to create a feeling without having to work in the soil such as digging, moving around, cutting & pruning – well then different pots, tools, wooden boxes, a wheelbarrow & other fitting items can do the trick.

It’s good to make use of the nice weather & take the opportunity or time to actually see all the nice things around. If nothing else, it can inspire to a visit to the garden store, which could brighten the day. Me – I’m just inspired by the wonderful weather, my very little green garden on the back & the cup of coffe in the morning, before it gets too hot. Greenery, that’s my thing right now 🙂
