Dark blue

I had a period when I used the dark blue colour almost as much as I use black today, that is to say, always. I felt a hint of that old feeling the other day when I bought two pairs of boots in suede, one black & the other in dark blue. On the way to work last week, I arrived a bit earlier & decided to take a stroll around the shopping centre. I saw a jacket in dark, dark blue. An instant love & from there to todays post, the way is rather short. Since then I have had time to be off couple of weeks to spend time with my sister & her husband, who is on a visit. There has been a lot of traveling to various favorite spots & with it, a lot of stops for shopping. One would think that the dark blue colour would be rather common. But no, not where I was, at least.

Anyway, I found a scarf in thin material but still with rough texture. Very soft in really dark blue shade & a couple of fine-knitted jumpers with stylish fit. One was striped of course. AND with that, I have now completed my shopping need in that blue colour.

Colourful taste

I find that every time I try to put together images with lots of color – I fail to do so. I can’t manage to choose something that is overly colourful. I discover after a while, when I’m looking at the whole thing, that I have unconsciously opted out of that which is too colourful. Now when we just finished renovating the shed, I had thought that I should paint the walls of other than the usual white. Possibly paint the concrete floor instead of the use of the ordinary wood floor & so on. And what happened – in some strange way, we now have white walls, a light wooden floor, white furniture, etc. It’s funny how all this can happen even though my thoughts went in another direction. Is it the power of habit, perhaps.

The images below are in colour but it’s not overly colourful, as you can see. Although it’s enough colour, at least for my part. You could say it became something in between. With a white base or a simple base, you can add color without risking that it becomes too much. Or you can use as much color as you want if that’s what you prefer. This is more then enough as inspiration, for me.

Shoe lust

Shoes in various material & models are exciting, but I’m relatively restrictive with what I use. NEVER high heels unfortunately – even though I’m short & would benefit. For everyday use, I wear sneakers or desert boots. Flat shoes are my melody – sneakers, boots, sandals, party shoes, formal shoes – doesn’t matter what occasion. Very similar to the first image but in leather or suede. It doesn’t matter how well-dressed you are, if the shoes don’t fit, the whole thing then looks drastically wrong. Or feels wrong, which is worse. I were in the city on a course & stayed after, for a stroll before I went home after work. No intentions to buy but to just look around, have a coffee & soak up the urban atmosphere.

I ended up buying two shoes in suede, black & dark blue in different shops. I must probably acknowledge that it was a feat considering all the high-heeled models that existed – everywhere! But shame on those who give up 🙂 Even If I wasn’t looking really. My philosophy is that when you see something you like, just buy it. You can’t regret that you bought something since you have the option to return the item. But if they run out of stock, that is more – well, not nice if you changed your mind.

Porcelain pattern

Chinese blue pattern is so common in the trade nowadays, whether it is textiles, porcelain, or other. When I grew up, it was usual with the blue pattern on porcelain to collect mainly, not antique, but the kind you got at each celebration, so that you had a complete set – when it was time to leave home. There were one collection that I remember was very popular although I didn’t really fall for that particular style. I have struggled ever since then actually. I can’t really decide whether I like this kind of pattern & colour. I do that sometimes & so suddenly it feels boring & predictable. Maybe it depends on the occasion & mood, what do I know. Well, I know that some of my friends is completely in love in both this colour & pattern. Either way, it is perhaps not so bad anyway, it’s rather neat when you look at the variations of the pattern & the different blue tones of the china – Swedish East India – as I prefer to call it. What do you think?
