Daily inspiration, facade

Facades are amongst one of the best things I know. It’s a special feeling in my stomach when I see fine facades, whether they are contemporary, traditional, worn or whatever, really. I have spent loads of time, wandering around in different cities or streets to experience architecture regarding facades along streets & squares. It can be charming old houses, old schools, newly manufactured wooden houses, factories stately or just square ones, without decoration. Facades says a lot about us humans, through different epochs. It’s nice to play with the idea of how people living inside are & what they do. But let’s leave that thought for another time.

Daily inspiration, kids room

I can imagine that children would feel comfortable in this room. Floor space for games, sloping roof creating nooks, roof window with natural light, built-in bed in the corner with a small private room within a room & soft soothing colours. Nice that the ceiling is in untreated wood. The room has high cosiness factor. Nice place overall for children to live in. (I might have wished for more comfortable seating, large thick rugs & some cushions on the floor).

Bleak images, maybe

Bleak images does not sound particularly inspiring, do they? I guess some might find these a bit depressing. Is it a suitable description? I just felt that I wanted something less colourful & more dramatic. The lighting, colour selection & props, enhances the atmosphere in each image. I’m aware of that everything doesn’t have to be bright & colourful to be perceived as interesting or exciting.

It feels liberating, for my part, to ignore the otherwise ordinary images that I usually choose. You know, you have your style & your preferences which you sometimes unconsiously bases your choices on. A style whom you have a weak heart for. Well, since some friends said I’m very Scandinavian in my taste, I thought I might try to challenge my self. But just so you know, this type of images are not my cup of tea 🙂

Daily inspiration, cookies

We were invited to a gathering with some parents & their teens last Sunday. I think that I’ve met some of them once before. The purpose were to agree about a destination, price & other details for our teens who’s in the same class. They are planning to share a holiday apartment, in either Byron bay or Surfers paradise, to celebrate graduation.

But the thing is that it’s very difficult to know what to bring to the host family, as a gift. It can’t be too much & excessively but not too little either. After some searching, we finally decided to buy a nice little box with different kinds of cookies. That’s something that is luxurious, I think! Sweet & smelling, nicely wrapped, freshly made cookies. That is love, in all simplicity.

This picture that I found online, I believe is from a new place in Melbourne. What I like with it, is actually the whole environment. It’s mainly the light but also the brick walls that are painted in white. The table with black base & wooden board. Those classic chairs that has been painted in pale pastels & the untreated floor. I also like the built-in wood shelves with the few things that has been stored inside. They are more apparent with the white wall behind, in the background. The pendants, they become like the icing on the cake.
