Pool life is common here where almost every other person has a pool at the back.
They look obviously different depending on when they were built, which pool shape that’s been selected, even what colour the water is, depending on the material in the basin – which makes a huge difference.
We chose a long time & changed us a number of times before we decided for the pool that is now used daily & almost around the clock.

It’s nice to be able to live part of the year with doors & windows opened – with an invisible boundary between outside & inside.
Preferably with upholstered furniture instead of the traditional outdoor furniture.
A courtyard / orangery that becomes a kind of a summer-living room.

My son moved out recently with girlfriend & schoolmate.
This is not their backyard but it could have been – it’s a complete copy. It’s a gorgeous tiny two story house with this similar small yard.

It’s something romantic with rooftops, chimneys, houses around – where you are close to the sky and the stars. You are isolated but still close to the neighbors and surrounding residents. You have your space where no one can see you or interfere – a bit like when building huts as a child.
