Things

Don’t you wonder over all the things we surround ourselves with, sometimes. Or the things we collect, or simply don’t have the ability to get rid of, or rather, don’t want to get rid of. Loads of things – the linen closet, china cabinet, a full wardrobe or a bookshelf full of books – or other things. We all have a preference for different things. We buy, we inherit, we get, we make, we collect & so on.

I have a fondness for textiles, right now bed linen & a big love for books. For a long time, it was wooden toys, cartoon movies, & certain plastic figures that my boys collected. Anyway, it’s rather fascinating what & how much stuff we gather over time. Things that may have no economic value, but of great importance for us, mostly because of the emotional significance.

Daily inspiration, feel at home

You could say that it’s a lot of stuff – and yes, it is. But it’s lovely stuff that makes you feel at home. Burning stove, pieces of firewood, the rag rug, magazines, books – everything you can imagine for a nice relaxing time. pinterest.com/ pinterest.com Take care / Marie

Daily inspiration, a home

An inviting home is one that feels lived-in. It’s not perfect & tidy but relaxed no matter if it’s unfinished with chaos around. The thing is that all things such as souvenirs, books, hand made stuff, photos are part of what gives a home character, personality & warmth. Textiles especially, are an easy way to bring warmth & atmosphere into a home. Preferably textiles & fabrics that will age & feel up to date as the years pass. When buying new things to add vitality, it’s ggod to build on colours & patterns that already exists & works well in the home. New pieces that match cherished older ones. A home is after all a place where family & friends gather for special events, dinners, celebrations or just to socialise in all simplicity.

Daily inspiration, a nice corner

An excellent place to retreat to for a quiet moment of solitude. A fine light entering from the window, a sofa with pillows alternatively armchair and a bookcase filled with books. What else can you wish for, really.

Daily inspiration, bookshelf

I’m fond of bookshelves & likes when things are organised neatly & with a thought behind. Not only to store the books but to show them lying, standing or with pages opened. It’s nice to use covers & colours to create interest & difference. Also to break it up with other nice stuff, for an aesthetic balance.
