Time to sit back

I know that i have said it before but i don’t mind repeating myself, what makes a restaurant is more than what is served on the menu. It is the total experience actually. The moment you open the door to enter in, you can immediately feel the atmosphere – if not, then it is not worth it.

At least, if you are after a memorable night in a nice place with great feeling for the whole experience – whether it is the menu, people with you & around you, waiters, the space, the lighting, furniture, etc. I do really mean it when I say that it doesn’t matter if it’s exclusive, famous, simple or just a whole in the wall.

Illustrative

From time to time I get stuck sometimes for prints & illustrations with simple, graphic & sometimes almost childish motives or traits. There’s something about them that makes them more personal & appealing. Not that I don’t like big well crafted paintings & artwork … but it’s maybe more about the innermost inspiration for the simple, somewhat cartoon & occasionally unfinished. Sometimes it can get to be black & white, sketched & maybe with an accent colour.

Other times it interesting with a lot of colour … but still on a limited scale & in collage form, perhaps. Such as further down on this post with the colourful postcards or posters, but still with the childish playful style. Illustrative, simple, cartoon sketch or animated graphic image that takes its place, regardless of size & fills the home with joy.

Necessary piece of furniture

The sofa is probably one of the most necessary piece of furniture in a home. The everyday activities of various family situations are significantly different from before. When I grew up, the couch was somewhat of a status symbol & absolutely not available for us kids to sit in. It stood there & dusted, between visits from friends & acquaintances. The few times we got to sit on the couch felt like something very special – and woe, if we accidentally spilled anything. It was equal to a death sentence.

Today there is a huge range, incredible comfort, varying prices & quality – not to mention removable covers. No worries about white sofas, it’s just to take off & throw in the washing machine.

On the way

Cars are not an interest that I have but I can still appreciate the design, shape & colour, of course. Especially the older models. Somehow it feels as if it was more focus on appearance in the “old days” – or is it just nostalgia that attracts, maybe. It’s by all means a lot of fancy cars today but the older classic models, they last forever, with its timeless splendour. Black is always neat or grand in some way but the bright red colour, I’ve always associated with sports cars – it has something to do with the energy & speed … I guess!
