Nice furniture in a simple modern contemporary style with items that’s become classic. Not too much decor & with a great background.

It is nice to visit old relatives who have retained their old furniture. It feels like you are stepping into another time, another world. There are frames with photographs arranged everywhere. Glass bottles & glass vases in amounts plus a lot of old books & heavy draped curtains. Not to mention sofas or armchairs. It’s absolutely adorable. Quite simply because you don’t throw things purely because they have aged, as they are still fully functional. Something that we ought to embrace more.
Here are some images that I have put together, that reminds of old times, if I may put it that simple. Furniture, gadgets, textiles & old pillows with prints, picture frames & so on. I am especially fond of the last shot where contemporary furnishings have been blended together with the old desktop – new & old come together nicely together into a whole. Really nice!

A home office, is that necessary nowadays – yes, I guess so. It depends on how much you’re working from home & how often. This is a nice solution with brown stained wooden table & soft contemporary office chairs – with drawer units at each side. I like the contrast between the sturdy wooden planks, the chairs & the iMac.

So today I felt for a post with some armchairs in different styles & shapes. That’s after a rather uncomfortable evening in a restaurant with great interior, great food & great people. It was decorated with small, small table, stools & armchairs with a mix of old & new – very nice & inviting environment albeit slightly dark. The thing is that it looked really nice which is a big part of an experience but once you’ve been sitting for a while, you feel it in your whole body.
The armchairs are too high for the low coffee tables or opposite & the tables are too small for more than two & you have to bend or lean to reach for things. It became way too uncomfortable after a while. It’s great with inspiring places & it’s nice when it looks stylish, cool or different. It’s just that I’m always impressed when it’s combined with functionality – when someone have taken the time to think through everything.

This is for the love of white, regardless of environments or things – for the fresh & simple impact as well as for the pleasant feeling this colour create, especially when combining white 0n white & several shades. Many people seem to consider that it’s a cold colour, lifeless & uninteresting. That may be so, but not for me – a BIG no, no from me. Various white shades that is combined with materials & structure can look incredibly interesting, exciting & inspiring. Of course, it has to be in combination with the light in the room.
Also, it’s rather important to add layers for a better expression of comfort & quality. Or else, there’s a risk that it may look like it’s too cold & unfinished. I guess that the lighting is crucial or rather, essential, in the end. Not to forget, the daylight that opens up for endless variations throughout the day.
