When one mixes vintage furniture with Industrial & adds accent colours of red and turquoise, as here – well, then you have a simple but pleasing expression in the kitchen. A sustainable style. Gifts are one of the things that belongs to Christmas. We learn to write wish lists to Santa Claus when we are small. Age has no importance whatsoever when it comes to Christmas gifts. It sparkles as much in the adults’ eyes as the little ones. It’s important with the content for some of us, but what creates the whole feeling are the packages themselves, wrapping paper, string, ribbon & all colours. Speaking of wish lists, our guys still writes lists every year for Christmas. Maybe not so much for sending to Santa, but to maintain the tradition, the feeling & excitement. Perhaps also to ensure that a couple desires are met, who knows!

This is admittedly a narrow & elongated kitchen but the material of choice in white & birch creates an impression of spaciousness. The storage cabinets with glass doors to the right balances the entire room while the left part is not taken up by the usual the wall cupboards, which comes in handy in this layout. Since the windows aren’t taken up by any curtains, the light flows freely through the whole room. Very nice indeed!

I like to tables in simple manner & not overburden with decorations. It’s not always easy to know when to quit. Many times, I think it gets too busy. Some decorations such as fresh flowers or candlesticks are in the way of conversations & eye contact. Understand me right, it’s certainly beautiful, but not always functionally. Taste-wise, I prefer tablecloths covering the entire table. Linen or Cotton fabric, with very simple patterns. (if some at al) It might not sound exciting but it becomes nice enough & makes the entire room with all invited, less stressed or busy. To exaggerate a little, on occasions like Christmas, works fine 🙂
