Semlor

Fat Tuesday is one of our most celebrated food days & rolls ( semlor) are eaten in almost every home in Sweden. Fat Day itself is February 13 this year & throughout the season we manage to eat around 50 million rolls ( semlor) in the country. We have been eating these buns on Constitution Day since the Middle Ages & it’s said that King Adolf Fredrik died because he greedily stuffed 14 semlor in 1771.

The celebration of Fatty Day comes from the Christian holiday established when fasting for 40 days before Easter in order to eat properly. During Lent, one was supposed to live spartanly, not eat meat or feast in any other way, so it was about partying properly on Fattiday.

Fika

Fika is a Swedish social institution that involves interpersonal interaction & a relaxing break in combination with the consumption of coffee or another drink & coffee bread, sandwich or other edibles.

The Swedish fika tradition stretches back several hundred years, but it was only in 1910 that the now world-famous word fika began to be used. This tip with buns & pastries in mini format is perfect for fika this summer.

Mini pavlova

Pavlova, incredibly sweet pastries, like tiny jewelleries on the plate. A variant filled with mascarpone cream, fried apple, sweet salt caramel sauce & candied almonds. Perfect size & an opportunity for upcoming Easter holiday.

Sweet

A sweet idea, instead of a large table setting with cakes & other pastries, this is a simple & appealing idea to use. Will certainly be appreciated in all its simplicity.
