White, white & white

WHITE is the colour of freshness such as newly fallen snowflakes, a glass of fresh milk – a colour produced by the combination of all the colours of the visible colour spectrum. And of course, white is the opposite of black which makes great contrast when represented light in contrast with darkness. White is the colour that often is associated with the good, honesty, innocence but also neutrality or a new beginning.

For me, its just a clean, nice, fresh & inspiring – extremely inviting as it is by itself or with light colours as an addition, but also interesting with the stark contrast between light & dark to get an impact. The purity & freshness provides a sense of luxury, regardless of the material or design.

Orange

Orange has great warmth when it’s in the right shade. It’s cool together with red, pink & cerise colours. The contrast can be exciting. Orange usually makes me think of carrots, pumpkins & apricots. It is between red & yellow & generally associated with extroverts, fire, activity, danger & the autumn season. It is an important symbolic colour of Buddhism & Hinduism. But today, it’s an orange theme basically because of Halloween.

Shades of brown

It’s springtime but I’m still in the mood for darker colours. Brown is nice all year round & fits perfectly to white but also with jeans, chinos & looks great in general. Now it is not just about clothes, of course. I have included interiors, furniture & textiles too. I appreciate dark colours in an otherwise light / white environments with the contrast & the crispiness that often appear. So despite fantastic weather, the brown colour continues to inspire me.

Pink

So it is time for pink again, pale pink – a colour that goes very well with other (contrast) colours. Right now I use it a lot together with white or black, occasionally with light & dark grey too. Not only to clothes, actually. I have a very soft padded bedspread in the bedroom AND yes, believe it or not, but it happens to be that it too is combined with dark grey duvet cover. I must have lack of imagination, so it seems.
