For the bathroom

It struck me the other day that there are relatively many bathrooms that have black or dark tiles, when staying in hotels. Maybe it’s because it looks more exclusive or more of a hotel feel, for some reasons. Or a relic of the time when it was more men who traveled in their job than women. Maybe it’s more male designers who gets to design these buildings. Or is it coincidence only, I don’t know.

Now, I have not thought about blogging about bathrooms, it’s more towards bathroom accessories. Once again, back to what I always preach, that accessories makes a difference. Both for the comfort as well as for the homely feel. Let’s hope you like these images!

Bed textiles

Bed textiles could be compared to clothes – that an outfit is not complete until you add the accessories. A bedroom with furniture works functionally but what creates the overall impression, which gives the room personality, style, atmosphere is after all, textiles – colour, comfort, softness. Thus, bed textiles, curtains, carpets, cushions, bedspreads, blankets, etc.

I know that I am generalising because we all have our views on what makes a home. But textiles is not about abundance. It’s more a nurturing invitation. Whether simple or more towards bohemian influence – it’s easy to customise bed textiles after each individual’s needs.

You can do wonders with small areas. Think through what you want to achieve, before you start. What functions are needed, what furnitures, what style & what to keep or give away. Smart storage solutions that’s both functional but also nice to the eye. Save space – clothes, bedding & seasonal stuff can be stowed away until it is time to use these again. Sparingly or lots of stuff, if done with care & thoughtfulness, it will make a big difference. You can create an easy-going feel with few well chosen stuff. Transparent living

Doors, cabinets & dividers in glass does very much for the impression of a place. Instead of obscuring parts of the room, it opens up for an airier experience. Such as a window in the correct location, or a large room divided by a glass partition or why not by a cabinet with glass doors. It creates a different perspective of the room & provide great atmosphere as a whole.

Kitchen cabinets, whether it’s the top line or bottom, that are transparent throughout i.e. with glass on all sides, is amazingly refreshing & feels relatively new too. It requires a wise sense of order, for such an option. (take a look at the 9th image with glass cabinets on the wall). So my point is that glass dividers can contribute greatly to the comfort of a home. It’s nice & makes surfaces more bright & accessible.

Daily inspiration, wood flooring

There’s so many different flooring options & much that is stylish & practical. I find it hard to imagine my home without wood floors, to be honest. It’s a nice feeling with natural materials & it’s incredibly beautiful – untreated as well as treated floors, I don’t mind – as long as there is a wooden floor.
