I cannot imagine a life without books. A home with books is an experience – not just reading and enjoying a story, it’s to disappear into another world. But also to create an atmosphere & comfort through books. This is a fine example of inspiration but I wouldn’t colour coordinate – that’s too much for my liking.

We have no furniture in leather at home. Have had once, long ago, when it was almost a must in the 80s, but it’s just a memory today. For some reason, it does not feel attractive even though there are many fine models. It gives a certain character to the room too. But to take a look is ok, for pure inspiration. Classic, modern, curved, sleek…plus different colours including poufs.

This armchair is one of my favourites. I might have posted similar model earlier but it’s a timeless style that fits everywhere. It is a Howard sofa & the name of Howard & Sons is probably one of the best known in upholstered furniture. I have a sofa in white & an armchair in tobacco brown. I am thinking of new sofa covers but can’t make up my mind in which colour or if I should go for a pattern. I like the stripes!

So today I felt for a post with some armchairs in different styles & shapes. That’s after a rather uncomfortable evening in a restaurant with great interior, great food & great people. It was decorated with small, small table, stools & armchairs with a mix of old & new – very nice & inviting environment albeit slightly dark. The thing is that it looked really nice which is a big part of an experience but once you’ve been sitting for a while, you feel it in your whole body.
The armchairs are too high for the low coffee tables or opposite & the tables are too small for more than two & you have to bend or lean to reach for things. It became way too uncomfortable after a while. It’s great with inspiring places & it’s nice when it looks stylish, cool or different. It’s just that I’m always impressed when it’s combined with functionality – when someone have taken the time to think through everything.
