Sculpture

Horizons (1994) by Neil Dawson is a 15 m high & 36 m long steel sculpture at Gibbs Farm, NZ. It creates the illusion of a windblown sheet of paper resting on a hill, blending seamlessly with the landscape while challenging perception. Dawson, known for large-scale optical illusions, crafted this piece as one of the farm’s earliest commissions. Visible from the road, it remains a striking part of Gibbs Farm’s renowned $450 million art collection.

Gibbs Farm is an open-air sculpture park located 47 km north of Auckland, NZ. It contains the largest collection of large-scale outdoor sculptures in NZ. It’s the private art collection of New Zealand businessman Alan Gibbs – open to the public on select days throughout the year, usually once per month, on a bookings-essential basis.
