Mixed taste

Putting together things to make it look nice & appealing…that’s not an easy thing to do. But when it’s done right, it sure is inspiring. It’s rather exciting when  things are mixed based on taste rather than expression. Especially if it doesn’t have a common pattern or colour scheme. I often find different styles & combinations interesting, even if ti’s far from my own preferences. It’s exciting to browse through magazines or scroll through blogs. But I have to admit that nothing beats realistic living, where peoples personality really shines through.

All inspiration – despite taste, style, preference or else, are there to satisfy our need for beautiful things & to give us new inputs & ideas. There is beauty in everything. From food creation to simple freshly baked bread. From beautiful beddings to comfortable casual clothes. From glassware to  to patterned textiles. It’s all about mixed taste…

Take a seat / 112

Hej friends,

So how was your weekend, nice, relaxing busy, enjoyable…

I’ve been out shopping with my dear sister who’s going back to L A tomorrow. She managed to be upgraded to first class on the way here so she was very pleased when she arrived…relaxed & rested. She goes back as heavyweights in view of everything she bought. I dare not even mention all, with the risk of being regarded as shopaholic. But it’s really not that bad. She’s more an workaholic so she never finds time to shop. I’m nevertheless very happy that she found so many adorable things & she looks really great in every garment. In all cases, returning to today’s topic, it’s all about sitting comfortably … have a seat please, make your self comfortable & give yourself a few minutes to scroll through t0days post – it’s about armchairs. It’s not just any armchairs, they’re really nice. I know that I’ve said it before but I’m not picking images based on my taste only because , well – I guess a lot of my blogging would be too predictable & boring, for some at least, but what do I know?

Anyway, these armchairs are in different styles. When I think about it, I’d probably have to admit that I’m relatively boring & predictable after all. You’ll see that all are in one colour although they have different expressions… I’m extremely influenced by my upbringing & environment, it’s in the genes. They are all WHITE but in my defence, I’m careful selecting various styles & tastes. Now, you’ll probably need to take some time to check out these nice images, right? Go ahead, take a seat:)

Purple rain / 87

Hej friends,

I have several jacaranda trees outside my window, they are in full bloom & enormous. It’s color is absolutely stunning in purple. The leaves falls onto the ground & colours the walkway completely purple…not just around my place, it’s all over the town…it rubs of on me. Todays post is about this purple rain…& it’s fitting since the rain pours down over Sydney. It has been raining for a while now but it’s a pleasant rain with comfortable warmth in the air. My in-laws are eagerly waiting to be entertained, I may well take them for a ride somewhere. I’m posting this while I wait for everyone to be ready. My beautiful son are sitting with the guitar in the kitchen & entertaining them in the meantime. His voice glides up the stairs & while I’m blogging, I’m thinking that I’m an extremely happy person who gets to experience it…it has to be the hight of happiness. I want to stop the time & be in this moment. Who cares about a little rain, purple or not:)

I took this picture this weekend in Double Bay. This tree is more blue than purple although mine are deep purple. Simply beautiful with glass vases, especially olive- green & purple together / Cox & Cox Purple door cabinets, not a common sight but nevertheless, very exciting / Attic magazine Purple velvet couch is not too bad / Anna gillar One don’t have to go the whole way, adding a few details might be enough for some / El Hernandez

Me, my self and I / 58

Hej friends,

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Our has been busy with our sons birthday. 21 years, my good, how quickly time passes. We did as previous years, woke him on Sunday morning with a cake, lovely singing & presents:) Breakfast was prepared early by my darling & the table set & ready for a relaxing morning together. Shortly after, the whole house were full, music on & endless number of people turning up in a steady stream. With the fantastic weather, they all went out to the backyard to entertain, discuss & debate – one subject after the other. When they didn’t agree, they took their phones & quickly looked it up on Wikipedia & Googles. It was really interesting to observe. They didn’t seem particularly interested in the conversation, the essential was to be the one who were right & win the argumentation. I’m not even sure that they listened to each other clearly. They were too focused & occupied with next comment. Funny & touching, really.

I thought I’d follow up with a post about individual taste. Just because I believe in personality on each one’s terms & conditions.

Old & new stuff with a personal touch – it’s very charming / Decor 8

Great hallway that greets you with a smile / Desire to inspire

Beloved things, old as new in a nice mix / Graphic exchange

I would love to meet the owner, it’s a beautiful “mess” really / Home & Garden

Hello dear, how are you, I like your style / The Sartorialist

Worn leather armchair central located in the room & loved things around / Beautiful soap

It’s raining men / 42

Good morning from Sydney, I have just had breakfast & a walk, the weather is just wonderful & I can hear all builders along the street with all their tools. Everything is rather nice, so to say. I’m on the balcony with the first cup of coffee (after the breakfast tea). It’s too hot on the terrace already. I’ve read in one of the newspapers that Australian men is the worst dressed in the world. No wonder at all, I see it everyday & we’ve discussed it several times at home. Maybe it’s partly because people have to wear uniform from early age at school, partly because of the weather that’s nice all year around or because It’s too far from the rest of the world & almost two seasons behind. Or as simple as that they simply have no taste. I don’t know, I just know that it’s very few out there with style or awareness of fashion. Actually, it’s not so much about fashion, to be honest. You can dress very nicely without worrying about trends.

Almost every one seems to wear the shirt outside the pants, whether it’s informal outfit or suit. Ouch, it almost hurts to see that. My darling husband tried to wear his shirt outside his jeans once or twice - it got all of us in the family to protest wildly. No way, thank you! It’s not about expensive clothes or brands either. That’s up to each one really. When the clothes are taking over too much, there’s a risk for the individual to become invisible in their outfit. A good phrase to use might be, Everything in moderation. Clothing should emphasise & strengthen one’s personality. Create little self-esteem & express who you are, without exaggerating. But as always, it is up to each one. What would life be otherwise, huh!

This looks very dressed up but it’s casual with the turtleneck & the cuffs hanging out – not overly done, just stylish, yet informal enough / The Sartorialist,

Look at this beauty, casual, informal – almost a little careless style. A very deliberate style that can’t be copied. It’s just there / Miles Davies, Google,

Simple, elegant & super nice –  sometimes it takes no more than that / The Sartorialist,

Pants that sit a bit loose, rolled up with a simple white t-shirt. Suits all really / Errol Flynn, Google,

Khaki / chinos or whatever they are called, simple beige cotton trousers (not too tight) & navy blue shirt with rolled arms. A very pleasing style.  Hope he is using socks, however / The Sartorialist,

A classic casual style that works everywhere. The jacket is not required, it works equally well with a nice simple sweater / The pursuit aesthetic,

Just thrown together with his basics & favourites – note the stylish suede shoes with a stripe around it. And the belt. Stylish & cool / The Sartorialist,

A bit dressy, but certainly not excessive. It is always nice with a thin sweater or vest under the jacket. Nice combination & very nice suede shoes. Classic, elegant but still simple / The pursuit aesthetic,

Here, the outfit is more personal with a customized style & taste. However, still simple & nice because of the top part / Sisi shop,

No outfit is complete until the bag is selected. Applies to men also. Mobile phone & wallet are not nice to wear in pockets, it just looks clumsy, awkward & ugly / Ide verkstan,

Take care / Marie
