Christmas sweets / 94

Hej dear friends,
It’s been a busy busy weekend & I’m totally exhausted. This week is already booked with a lot to be fixed & organised. My darling has taken some time off so he can spend a little more time with his sister before she travel home again. Two weeks left before the summer break starts, three weeks until Christmas. It’s true that time flies & it seems to go faster the older I get. I am nevertheless pleased that I don’t rush around in order to prepare, clean & do laundry, but take it easy instead. It’s a good & nice feeling – everything will be all right anyway in the end. I have tried to learn how to bake now that I have my mother in law here. Can not directly claim that it went well for my part but a lot of buns & sponge cakes has been produced. One must nevertheless admit, that the result is most important. A person who’s been doing well is my father in law that’s been eating at the same rate as baking was going on…at least until I threatened him. With baking in mind, I’ve looked up some pictures which is about Christmas sweets with all that implies.

Guess who’s coming to dinner / 14

Hello friends,

I recently had a bunch of great people that came over & brought all food with them. It is quite common with potluck dinners here & a very nice way to socialise. (I think that it’s called potluck in English). It’s pretty fun & exciting to see what everyone has brought. It seems that most are weak for sweets, the table has often the tendency to get filled with desserts, for some reasons:) The only thing I had to do, were to welcome them to a clean & tidy house. Not bad huh? Well, of course I did some before they arrived, since I know that this team loves sweets. I had prepared Portuguese charcoal chicken so they got something substantial in the stomach too. It’s always a concern that the food will not be enough for all but there are always tons over, in the end.

I wouldn’t describe my self as an overly social person but I do really enjoy good company when all are there to hang out & have a good time together. It is a pleasure & a privilege to be with people you care about. What could be more fitting as a theme than a set table…for those who come for dinner.
