Hej friends all over the world,

It feels good to say that, now when I have a better idea through my blog hosts updates…it’s exciting & inspiring to know that I have so many followers around the globe :)

I thought I would let you get to know me a bit more by a post with a Scandinavian theme. It’s hard sometimes to put your finger on what it involves but one thing is certain…or three…simplicity, colours & light. It’s obvious that comfort, functionality and craftsmanship are key ingredients. Swedish homes are seldom over-decorated since every detail is thought through with a meaning & a purpose. Natural materials is a big thing & timber is consistent used…birch, pine, oak, ash. Tradition, culture & history is things that is consistent across all homes, more or less. Textiles of all kinds makes the home, no doubts. Curtains, cushions, throws, rugs & lots of variations in the seasons to renew the home. Thick soft carpets, sheepskin & rag rugs are very common. Not to forget plants, flower pots & fresh cut flowers to enhance the experience of  nature indoors. Equally important is lighting with different light sources for general lighting, functional as well as mood lighting. Well, not only lighting but also candles – amounts of tea lights. I dare not think about how much tealights we purchase per year. We light candles almost every night, all year round & it is lit as in a church – very cosy indeed.

Basket love / 129

Hej friends,

The whole last week felt like a weekend, it’s a wonderful feeling, worth all money in the world. I went to a new hair dresser even though I’m little reluctant to switch to a new person, just like that. I’ve been to the same place for a few years now. It’s a busy there & you have to book way before. The reason I’m changing is simply because the concept of time does not exist there. What would usually take around 40 minutes ends up with around 2 – 2 1/2 hours or more, almost every time. It’s a lot of activity going on – talks, discussions, debates, opinions so they tend to forget to work at the same time, too busy to keep up with things happening around. Don’t get me wrong, they are all so sweet & nice. I just haven’t the patience to sit & hang around. Especially as I expected it to take a certain time & have other things to do afterwards.

Yes, I sound boring but that’s the fact. First you have to wait once you arrive, then get your hair washed, then wait again, then move over to a chair, wait, get your haircut, wait, get your hair dried with some waiting between again … talk, talk, talk & finally time to pay & then thanks & exhausted. Although last time, I overheard a long discussion about baskets. These were apparently new range / assortment somewhere. It got me thinking around this subject, so here you are, some nice images of baskets … to use wherever it suits you:)

PS.

It has been wicked easy to manage my hair & the hair dresser was sooo gooood, especially that it happened quickly, without frills.

The Sandman / 111

Hej friends,

The Sandman appears later & later now when we have many pleasant visits & overnight stays. I’m up way too late talking, socialising, watching movies, eating & eating… which perhaps isn’t so good … in the long run. We have travel around & seen a lot but the last days we’ve been hanging around the pool since it has been too hot for any activities. This, I am grateful for as I have been able to doze off in the sun bed & catch up on lost sleep. One have time to think when you’re lying in a comfortable sun chair … which got me thinking of bedding. We have a beautiful bed with stylish white headboard which now is time to replace, unfortunately. Actually, we would have done it long ago but I haven’t found any bed that I like. I’m almost sure that I want to have a white bed…but until I catch sight of the correct model will I continue to dream with my eyes open - except when the Sandman comes to visit, of course:)

Deep waters / 71

Hej friends,

It’s strange how the weather behaves this spring. We had several days with around 29-31 degrees & are now down to 19 -23. Minor problem indeed but nevertheless tricky. It has been really cold inside & it doesn’t take much in order to freeze indoors, in Australia. Houses aren’t built or insulated for too cold weather. Lucky that we have a bathtub then..although it looks like a submarine with all taps & knobs. But works as a proper bath tub, fill up with hot water & make sure the stopper is where it should, so the water don’t flow out:) It has been used a few times so far by our youngest. It does’t seem so common now these days with bathtub even though they still are installed & associated with relaxation. I guess we don’t have the time or we save time by showering.

Here, I offer you a bath, while not in deep waters, but via some inspiration:)

Suit your self / 60

Hej friends,

My youngest son Axel went away with some friend to camp in the bush on his school holiday. I do admire the parents of his classmate, pulling away with six kids on camping. My oh my! It must be the third time now. Any way, we had him to take care of his own packing, while we only reminded of things that would be needed in the bush… to teach him to take responsibility, something that our little prince has to learn & apparently takes quite a lot of his energy. Axel got picked up by one of his friends & his father. I heard a gasp outside the door & saw this father look a bit taken by Axels huge overseas suitcase. He actually looked both surprised & quite terrified.

He expected a backpack at least, for those five days. I told him that it was still some things missing. Axel will also bring his hair dryer & ironing board. The poor man had a little trouble breathing. They got off happy & excited, shortly after Axel had removed the worn nail lacquer, which he remembered at the last moment. This post is to my wonderful son Axel – because of his large suitcase that barely got in the car.
