Orange / 123

Hej dear friends,

I am in the mood or rather keen on orange color. I can’t use orange or actually any strong colour, for that matter. It’s about garments, in this case. Can’t or will not, it’s the same, really. I disappear in colors, I feel either dressed up or dressed out…either way, it’s not a nice feeling. It doesn’t help even when people says that it looks good on me. I have to feel it…& I do that in black, grey, white, beige etc. I guess it’s a matter of getting used to wear colors & convince my self that it’s nice … it looks really nice on others though.

But, but colors are not just about clothes luckily. It’s about everything here in life. From the car you’re looking for, to choices at home, flowers & plants in the garden, arts, environments…well, everything. Orange is a warm colour & fits with a various of other colours, not only limited to the same spectrum, but equally well as a contrast colour. I haven’t uded this colour so much, not more than as an accent with basic plain colours. It fitted & looked great in my sons room together with navy blue, lime green, red…& white of course.

Here we go then, let’s have look together now:)

Wall style / 56

Hej friends,

We, or rather I, have an ongoing discussion with my guys about whether to put up pictures directly onto the walls or use frames. Practical & tidy as I am, I want them to use frames, which means that we always end up in endless discussions. It looks sloppy, the pictures fade faster, there will be marks left after the gum they use on the wall. While, on the other hand, they claim that it looks too neat & boring. I had to think back to my youth to remind myself that we were on different wave length…so I gave up or gave in to them, depending on how you look at it. I do prefer the old fashioned way but I can at least give them the freedom to choose. Anyway, It gave me the idea to make a post for today’s blog.

Not bad idea to use the shape of the sloping ceiling through the pictures / Paoneote_room 269

Mixed hanging, with wire as well as directly on the wall / Skona hem

Same line as the sofa & not the whole way over the wall which makes it more interesting /  Hus & Hem

A nice mix of framed & unframed pictures as well as different sizes / My white room

Similar set up but different style – with pictures from magazines in various shades of green / Elle interior

Both images & drawer storages in similar shades with hand-drawn pictures taped to the wall / Bright bazaar

A collage with colourful magazine images all over the wall, serving as background to the dining table / Keltainen Talo Rantalla

Almost as a head board to the bed & nice contrast with photos in black & white / Home & Garden

Black & white against a white wall, little more spread out, fewer & not so concentrated / Bolig

In height & sideways, nearly a wall paper solution but that would have been too much, nicely done / Room 123

Similar to the first image but without the sloping ceiling. Fun way to make the bathroom more exciting / Seventytree

Take care / Marie

Gallery for me / 25

Hej friends, so we are finally on a short vacation together – in Cairns. It’s a beautiful view from the hotel with the harbour in reach & the mountains as a background. We have rented a car & are just about to go to Palm cove, a small town along the sea.

I have had images on my mind lately, I just slipped in to a gallery at the hotel’s shopping street & saw some nice stuff. It got me thinking of pictures & frames. There are so many ways to create something unique, cute, stylidh or whatever might be thing for you. Worn frames or modern ones, with or without motive…it doesn’t matter really. There are some simple rules that are good to start with to get a kind of a whole or some structure … but does not have to be a must. No one can really tell you what to do or how to do  it, as long as you are happy with the result. You’re doing this for your self, aren’t you:) Posters & postcards are common if you don’t prefer authentic art, which I’m not covering really. Photos or whatever works. Form my experience, the most common things here in Sydney are wedding photos, family photos & diploma. What seems to be very popular here & has been for a while, is a lot of thin sheet metal images, old  signs & letters. I guess vintage is appealing with it’s simplicity & worn beauty.

Black floor, few well chosen furniture & concentration on the wall. I have just one word – wow! / Karl Andersson,

An entire wall covered with black frames & black/white photos. An impressive result / Greige interior design,

Stick to a small part of the wall & work with rows in height. This wall has been worked consistently with similar colours & only white frames.

Low storage unit works well together with these frames who are leaning against the wall / Vosges Paris,

Small collage on the wall, striking in it’s simplicity / Hus & hem,

This gallery wall enhances the environment in the room with it’s modernity / Bolaget,
Why not use the corner, very strong impact with the armchair in leather. (nice side table:)

I love the straight lines with black on white, it’s always striking … in my world / Greige interior design,

These are some basic rules that can be good to keep in mind.I

Take care / Marie
