Today I’m going to bid on a yellow theme. I am possibly inspired by the bright sun & pleasant warmth. Or, I may have noticed yellow somewhere unconsciously. Anyway, here below, are a variety of images with a bit of yellow here & there, as a common denominator.

Yellow is ugly, an expression that often was used when we were little. This sentence rhymes in swedish, which made it all the more fun, of course. I don’t know where it came from or how it started but it was a common thing to say, for some reason. I remember I got a bright yellow t-shirt with print in black, a horse head actually, which I was fond of. Same colour on the clogs too. I think I had these things, as in, using them, a whole summer. Otherwise, it has probably not been very much of that color in my life. Admittedly a period in my teens, in my own room, that was furnished in that yellow colour, together with wood & white.

Today I don’t think I own anything in that particular colour . Although I believe it’s a nice color that makes you happy plus that it’s energising. But that’s how it is sometimes, that some things fits well to love from a distance…

Pink shades / 242

Occasionally, I get a craving for a certain colour – an influence from somewhere … AND I find my self searching or looking for that colour AND of course, I see it almost everywhere. That comes without saying.  … as a letter in the mail ( swedish expression ). A soft, pleasant pink color that’s not too harsh or sharp in tone. That goes well with grey, white or brown, black. Just the right colour without getting too pastel pink, if you get what I mean. Simply soft for the eye, soothing, warming, inviting, promising & up to date.

I pulled together some images with one thing in common – this colour. Or should I say those colours, maybe … they differ slightly in shades. Just when I start to get used to the colour, I bet that something else comes in the way. Whether this is another colour or … only time will tell :)

Hej friends,

I have gotten a great deal of comments about the post the other day regarding wall colours. Colours do create a lot of emotions & everyone has their opinion & taste – of course, that’s a given! It’s hard sometimes to understand or explain why certain colors affect people in specific situations. I guess it has to do with childhood as well as memories that has influenced, in one way or another. Outer influence has strong impact, whether it’s conscious or not. It molds taste & preferences, especially in younger age. The main thing is how we feel for colors, or rather, what colors make us feel. For although I personally don’t use so much colour, I would not be able to live colorless, it would make life less fun & the world sadder. The inspiration lies in the different experiences that colors create. It’s interesting how we can play with the colors to create a sense of things that are bigger or smaller, happier or more strict, wider or narrower etc.

Don’t expect strong dominant colors – it will only make you disappointed. Bright, fresh colors … are coming to you now :)

Hej there,

After having been on house hunting a while, I must admit that it’s been a pleasure to see houses from the inside. It is pretty exciting & interesting. Some don’t look like much from the outside & once you enter, you get a totally different impression. What I discovered was the fact that many houses are painted in the same colours, on the outside as well as on the inside. It’s rarely completely white walls, just as often as it is anything but pale beige-yellow walls. Feature walls don’t seem to exist in the great sense & not colours outside the beige scale. Nothing wrong with that, it’s just different.

I have, by all means, nothing but white on my walls…so I’m the last one to have any views on other people’s choices. It’s not that I haven’t tried something else but it just seem to be too much, once it’s done. I am a firm believer that the best way to make simple changes is to add colours through textiles & accessories. I am so boring & predictable but I don’t mind that. I have a tremendous ability to enjoy what others have created. And an admiration for their ability to get it together in an appealing way. What would home furnishings be without colors, indeed, whether it’s on walls or on details.

Mix it / 188

Hej my friends,

I thought I’d give it try to blog about colours / pattern. At least make an attempt, since I’m fairly cautious in using colour myself, especially in combination with too much pattern. I’m rather predictable, a very beige person so to speak. It’s not that I don’t appreciate it. It just feels as it’s too much when those combinations are mixed. It’s always nice & exciting when I see colours & patterns combined somewhere else, whether it’s interior or fashion. I’ve more or less unconsciously, opted out those that are too colourful with too much pattern. If you look really closely below, you’ll see that most images have white walls, to avoid it becoming too cluttered. It’s not that patterned really but enough patterns for my part.

Well, I’m no more exciting than that, actually. But on the other hand, this it’s not about me but about different patterns & mixtures, which I hope will fall to your taste. And possibly inspire you to some more patterns in your everyday life…on your terms :)
