Worn beauty / 156

Hej friends,

I am very much into vintage right now. I guess I’m influenced by all the markets I’ve been visiting with friends & family. I like the atmosphere, the feeling of excitement that creates, all individuals visiting or selling, the smell, the music, the diversity of supply, the sense of the bargain in the air, well, you know…it’s fascinating. I am quite smitten by all the stuff that have their own story, that have been someone’s beloved item, which will now be sold to & go on to new adventures. It’s also exciting that someone else can see the beauty in things that others has got tired of. It’s like a public festival & who on earth would say no to such an exciting experience. Well, I guess there are some since we all are different with different needs, expectations & interests. Fair enough. Let’s just rejoice over diversity & everyones freedom to choose. So, if you are interested in worn beauty, please scroll further…

Make up spot / 142

Hej friends,

We have three bathrooms & one would like to think that it’s more then necessary for a family of four. Yet it takes time for the other three in the family to be ready. They could be standing in front of the mirror, for ever, if they could, beleive me. There are hair dryers, hair straightener, gels, spray, earrings, eye liner … well, you name it. I haven’t even mentioned their problems to choose outfits yet. And these three, is thus my two sons & my dear husband. No teenage girls, as one might think.

Anyway, it’s all right during the week, by all means, as we all have different times. But on weekends it is a constantly bickering. It’s bad enough having to wait for them to be done, but even worse that when they are ready to go, they go out to the car & sits down to wait three seconds before they start sound the horn … just when I finally have got access to the bathroom. Well, maybe I just should be grateful because they care about how they look. Who knows…

Given my small everyday concerns, I have been looking up different expressions on dressing table that might inspire you. Not that I think I’d have the place in peace. Since my youngest son often looks through my makeup bag, he would love the idea of a make-up spot:)

Blue moon / 76

Hej Friends,

The sky is blue, it’s pleasant in the air, already 29 degrees & no clouds in sight. I chose another path on my walk today & stopped for a cappuccino in the sun. The owner was busy writing the coffee menu & had troubles getting it to look nice & tidy. I offered my help & to my surprise, he replied in a rude tone. That’s not nice huh. I told him that if the coffee tasted as bad as his behavior, he wouldn’t last long in this business. He looked at me, who knows what he was thinking, but he gave me the chalk to write & so I did. It got really neat & nice,if I may say so – my old skills as sign maker remains, indeed:) As I got my coffee, he wouldn’t accept any money. I liked the sudden change – from a sour guy to a nice & generous person. There is hope for us all.

I’m going for a blue post today. Blue is considered one of the primary colours. On the HSV colour wheel, the complement of blue is yellow; that’s a colour corresponding to an equal mixture of red & green light. There’s other colour wheels, where for example, orange is considered to be complementary colour. Anyway, blue is one of the basic colour terms but there are a considerable numbers of terms like navy blue, cyan blue, sky blue, jeans blue, etc. However described, here’s some blue inspiration.

It’s in the details / 19

Hej friends, The decorating vein in me, since my time as a window dresser, turns up now & then, to my youngest son’s dismay. Anyway, it was really tough back then, with straight lines, stretched garments, seams, labels or wrinkled parts - they could definitely not be seen. Signs & price tags had to be straight & every single spotlight had to be dust free & well directed. The floor needed to be clinically clean & of course, glass windows well wiped. It was a big production for each window shift & every detail was crucial – those were the days. Still, I find myself with picking up, correcting & moving things to keep them in line & straight, it sit’s in the spine since that time – the old school. That’s probably why I’m so fond of small details, such as still life.

One has become two – nice setup / vtvonen

A nice little collection of glass in nice colour combinations / TineKHome

Silver tray, transparent glass, white flowers – lovely / unknown

The whole bench full of glass in various forms, seasonal flowers & swish – adorable / House doctor

Installations work just fine in retail too - it’s tempting to pick & choose / Bright bazaar

Or why not the more elegant style / Greige interior design

Simple everyday objects & stacks of magazines  / Tant Johanna

Location of the dearest things, even if it would be shoes / Stylizimo

Ageing beauty

To grow old & be able to look back on your life, must be a joy. Having the chance to look back on all the experiences that shaped you & those who you learned from . Life is certainly not easy & there are many setbacks, both to learn to live with & many that might has been a disappointment. The times that you should have done something about this or that, or maybe not done certain things at all. Or the things you said, or shouldn’t have said. You know, life!

Life leaves its mark, more or less. Maybe not always on the surface … which today can be solved too easy, sadly enough … but primarily on the inside. That, which shapes your thoughts & opinions, Which gives you insight, which in turn shapes your personality. But isn’t it true that we often live in planning ahead instead of experiencing now. Which means that we then shifts our ability to recognize, appreciate & understand, in to the future. I hope that it doesn’t sound as I’m complaining. I am merely trying to think out loud, about life in general & aging in particular.

I think that ageing is beautiful when life you lived is visible on the outside. It gives a bit of character & dignity – sort of adds to the personality. The more you live your life, the more you become, you. We should give aging more space in our lifes, older people should be given more space, simply. I dedicate today’s post to all older individuals that inspires to action.
