Plate art / 130

Hej friends,

I have spent time going through loads of images in our photo box. You know, albums where you scroll through photos, in the old way. When perhaps one took time to chose colour & design of albums to purchase, which photos to paste, trying to remember date & places where these was taken & finally, something fun to write below each one. All these pictures were waiting in their folders for someone to take the time, kind of, once a year or something.

Anyway, I rediscovered old memories when I saw pictures of  rooms with plates either hanging directly on the walls or shelves that enabled the porcelain to be displayed with visible front. It’s was very common in Sweden, that fine old plates hung on the walls in the homes as a decorative part of the room. It still is, especially in older homes & mostly by the generation before us. Some wanted to enjoy their collection & others had the desire to let their parents or grandparents’ heritage be a nice part of the everyday life. Either way, whatever the reason, it was a decorative & homely thing to do as well as very common…& still is to some degree. The last image with plates in black & white faces on, is certainly still in vogue.
